The Award-Winning Tower House overlooking the Yellowstone River in Paradise Valley, Montana. Sorry, the Tower house is currently booked (sold out) through October 15th, 2010. ![]() A most unusual vacation house stands tall in the breathtaking Paradise Valley of Montana. ![]() It overlooks the pristine Yellowstone River, famous for floating, kayaking and blue ribbon trout fishing. ![]() Surrounded by land that served as the backdrop for "A River Runs Through It" and "The Horse Whisperer," the 14 acre property stands in the fertile valley between the breathtaking Absarokee mountain range and the Yellowstone River. The 45 foot tall house offers endless views from every room, is steps away from the nation's longest free-running river, and is conveniently located 15 miles from the art galleries, cafes and restaurants of Livingston. The valley is home to many well-established working ranches, and those "in the know" have discovered it to be a more authentic Western alternative to the crowds and glitz of Jackson, Aspen and Sun Valley for mountain vacation residences. Indeed, the area has become known for it's famous actors, artists and writers. The mineral baths of Chico Hot Springs are just minutes away. The entrance to Yellowstone National Park is less than an hour South and booming Bozeman an hour to the West. The Big Sky Resorts (Yellowstone Club, Moonlight Basin, Spanish Peaks and Big Sky) are less than 2 hour's away. ![]() Inspired by the disappearing wood grain elevators dotting the Western landscape, the Tower house is both modernist sculpture and woodsy cabin. It's been featured on HGTV's Dream Builders, the Discovery Channel's Amazing Vacation Homes, on the cover of Dwell Magazine, the book Private Towers, and Outside's GO magazine. It earned the AIA and Wood Design architecture awards. ![]() The house is cozy and bright with spectacular panoramic views from every window. It's a tree-house for grown-ups ![]() with four levels plus a large rooftop viewing deck ![]() where you can see four mountain ranges, the entire Paradise Valley and clear down to Yellowstone Park. ![]() The "Paradise Valley Tower House" is now available for short or long-term vacation rental. ![]()

By author James Grayson Trulove. Published by Harper Collins. "A wonderfully subtle relationship between the 50 ft high house and the glorious land that surrounds it. Inside, the house operates as a muli-level viewing platform. It's fair to say that in this house, life and nature have become one...you feel as if you're surrounded by unspoiled Montana. The views outside appear two-dimensional, almost as if they were framed paintings...without the windows, the difference between the inside and outside would verge on the imperceptible." - Dwell Magazine cover home January 2003 "It's a tree house. It's a fantasy house...Furnishings are simple, the rooms uncrowded. The floor is poured cement stained a deep terra cotta red. Because of the radiant heat, it is surprisingly warm underfoot. East and South facing floor-to-ceiling windows capture both the Absarokas south to Emigrant Peak and, on this clear day, the valley south as far as the eye can see toward Yellowstone Park. For a while, you just sit and stare, and fantasize about waking up in bed every morning, rolling over, and marveling at your good fortune." - Bozeman Chronicle At Home March 2003 ![]() Design Awards American Institute of Architects California Chapter - 2003 - Merit Award
Jury Comments: "The level of care and thoughtfulness in planning and execution is commendable. This home touches lightly on the landscape and has beautiful and admirable craftsmanship as well as thoughtful reuse of materials. It is a good example of coherent form making and will stand the test of time." Wood Design Awards - 2002 - Merit Award
Jury Comments: "The house has a strong sculptural form that fits the rugged landscape. The vertical slats make a "delaminating" or "subtracting" skin in contrast to the solidity of the mountains." ![]() Features and Specifications Breathtaking panoramic Montana mountain and Yellowstone River views.
